Material Girls is a satirical teen comedy film starring Hilary Duff and Haylie Duff. Based on a script written by John Quaintance, the film also stars Anjelica Huston, Lukas Haas, and Brent Spiner. The film is directed by Martha Coolidge. It is co-produced by Patriot Pictures and Madonna's film production company, Maverick Entertainment.

The film began production on April 18, 2005, in Los Angeles, California. It is expected to be release in early 2006 (see 2006 in film). For the film's soundtrack, Hilary Duff and Haylie Duff will be recording a cover version of Madonna's song "Material Girl", which was the inspiration for the film's story. Timbaland is going to produce the track.

Synopsis

Inspired by Maverick co-chairman Madonna's hit song "Material Girl,", the Duffs play two sibling heiresses who lose their fortune because of a scandal and have to fight to win back their dignity and their standing in life. Huston will portray the owner of a rival cosmetics firm trying to wrest control of the girls' company. Spiner will portray the CEO of the besieged company, and Haas is the head of a free legal clinic to whom the girls go to for help.
